Hiring an Immigration Lawyer Can Help You Achieve Your Goals

Immigration law is a complex field that requires expertise. Hiring a reputable immigration lawyer in Dallas, TX can help you achieve your goals and make the best decisions. They will handle the extensive paperwork and help you navigate the process.

They will also protect your rights. For example, they will ensure that immigration officers don’t treat you rudely or breach your privacy.

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services

The agency, a division of the Department of Homeland Security, directs and ensures lawful immigration and upholds citizenship laws. In its mission, it supports civic integration and a diverse workforce. Its pending caseload has grown each year during the last three fiscal years. The agency’s processing times have also increased significantly.

USCIS is a successor to the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS). When DHS came into being, INS was divided into three components: USCIS, Customs and Border Protection, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The agency is renowned for its backlog of applications and cases, although efforts have been made to improve efficiency.

The Dallas Field Office has a variety of offices where individuals can submit forms and speak with an Immigration Information Officer. In addition, the agency offers a virtual help center and application support centers. The organization is dedicated to providing legal assistance to immigrants and refugees who seek family reunification, employment or protection from persecution.

DACA

Since its introduction in 2012, DACA has allowed hundreds of thousands of people to work lawfully, go to school and provide for their families. It protects undocumented immigrants brought to the United States as children from deportation and grants them work authorization for two-year periods that may be renewed. To qualify, individuals must have come to the United States before their 16th birthday and continuously resided in the country since that date; be enrolled in school or have a high school diploma or equivalent; not have any convictions for felony offenses, significant misdemeanors or three or more other misdemeanors, or pose a threat to national security or public safety; and have no other immigration status.

After the Supreme Court’s decision and a November 2020 ruling by a federal judge in New York that set aside limitations placed on DACA by then-Acting Secretary of Homeland Security Chad Wolf’s July memorandum, USCIS began accepting initial DACA applications again. However, we are still in a state of flux and the rules surrounding DACA are constantly changing.

Naturalization

For individuals that want to become citizens of the United States, a naturalization attorney can help. A good lawyer understands the government’s requirements and can help you complete all necessary paperwork. He or she can also help you prepare for your citizenship interview.

If you are applying for naturalization, it is important to be truthful on your application. Failure to do so could result in a denial of your application. For example, if you fail to disclose past criminal charges on your application or make false statements, the government will likely deny you citizenship.

If you disagree with a decision made by an immigration judge, your lawyer can help you file an appeal with the Board of Immigration Appeals. Your Dallas immigration attorney can explain the process and help you get the second chance you deserve. The law firm of Chavez & Valko has experience representing clients in a wide range of immigration cases. They are committed to providing zealous representation.
